What sewer line replacement & installation involves

Sewer line replacement removes a failing sewer line and installs a new one from the house to the city connection. It is the answer when a camera inspection shows breaks, roots or sags along much of the line, or when an old clay or cast iron pipe keeps failing in new places.

New installation is for new construction, additions with new bathrooms, and properties connecting to the city sewer. Most lines installed today are PVC, which holds up well to roots and corrosion.

Mesquite Plumbing plans the route, handles the excavation and installs the new line to code, with grading that keeps waste moving. In many cases replacement is finished in one day, though larger jobs can take one to three days. You get the scope and timeline before work starts.

We also help you understand who owns which part of the line. Your property's sewer lateral is usually your responsibility up to the city connection, and that is the part we replace.

    Show you the footage

You see what we see and hear the repair or replacement options.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace

We fix the damaged section or install a new line to code.

  4. 4

    Verify the flow

A final run and inspection confirm the line drains the way it should.

Questions

Sewer Line Replacement & Installation FAQs

Can a sewer line unclog itself?

While it’s possible, it’s not advisable to rely on it. Even if a sewer line clog clears itself, it could cause or result from damage. Always consult a licensed plumber to inspect your sewer lines to prevent potential hazards and costly damage.

Why does my house smell like sewage?

If your entire home smells like sewage, there may be a leak or backup in your sewer line. This can quickly lead to dangerous sewage leaks or costly repairs if not addressed promptly. Contact your local plumber to inspect your sewer line for potential repairs.

How long do sewer lines last?

With proper maintenance, most sewer line piping lasts 50-100 years. Clay pipes typically last 50-60 years, cast iron pipes last 75-100 years, and PVC pipes last 100 years or more. However, sewer lines may need replacement sooner due to tree root intrusion, weather damage, or internal corrosion.
