What gas leak locating involves

Gas leak locating finds exactly where natural gas is escaping from your piping, fittings or appliance connections. A faint gas smell that comes and goes, a hissing sound, or a utility that shut off service after a failed test all mean the leak has to be found before anything can be repaired.

If the smell is strong, leave the building, do not use switches or flames, and call your gas utility and then us from outside.

Mesquite Plumbing uses gas detection equipment and pressure testing to track the leak to the joint, valve or connector that is failing. Once it is found, we repair it, retest the whole system, and help you get service restored.

After the leak is repaired, we pressure-test the whole system, not just the joint we fixed, so you know the rest of the piping is holding too.

Gas leak locating is available 24/7 through our dispatch line.

Questions

Gas Leak Locating FAQs

How do I know my gas line is old or failing?

A rotten-egg smell, a hissing sound, dead plants over a buried line or appliances with weak flames are warning signs.

Will you work with my gas utility?

Yes. The utility handles the meter and street side. We handle the piping on your property.
